Day 2: STONEHENGE...WHAT THE?

August 25, 2017

We drove straight to STONEHENGE and WoW! Is all I can say! It was so cool to learn about STONEHENGE and to see it in person was amazing! No wonder it is one of the SEVEN WONDERS OF THE WORLD! It's always crazy to think that the people that lived thousands of years ago could craft something that could withstand time and elements and they're still standing today. You know, they used the tongue and groove method to balance these big stones on top of each other.

The first stone henge was built 5,000 years ago and the circle was formed 2500 BC! That's a LONG time ago!

I thought better of it, and didn't actually push over the stone! ha! ha!

We stopped in to grab a little bite to eat before we headed off to our hotel. We tasted a puffy pasty thing that was pretty darn good! And can I tell you how elated we were to find cold Diet Coke?!!
It had some type of meat in it and it was pretty good.

So our tour guide, Glenn Rawson (who is fantastic!) told us that we have to be put in groups and there has to be a captain of the group and each time we get on the bus they do a quick roll call and he'll scream out Group 1 and you say here, and on and on. Well, he said you don't have to be boring, yell out something to make it fun and so I can kind of get to know you.

So we were GROUP 5 and Diane was our leader for the first 2 days. We decided that we would answer our roll call with little poems. So the first one was: Rah, Rah, Shishboombah, Group 5 girls are ooh, la la!  Everyone on the bus laughed and every other group was boring!

We made friends with people on the bus pretty quick. Diane's outgoing personality helped everyone on the bus to know us pretty much within 30 minutes of getting on, that we were the fun, rowdy group!

Before you know it, I was making up all the poems about each place we stopped for our roll calls and so I started answering roll call and all the people on our bus wants copies of all our poems! It was a fun little thing to do but sometimes was stressful for me and I would miss out on some of the things being said cuz I was hurrying up making a rhyme for roll call before we got back on the bus. They were very cheesy but they got to where the others on the bus looked forward to hearing what we would say next!

On the way to our hotel there was a whole lot of this going on from everyone on the bus:

This picture totally cracks me up! I did get her permission to put it in. She's always up for a good laugh!

When we got checked into our very nice hotel, we were on our own to find dinner. We found the best little place in the Marriott next door that served really good food! The waitress got talking to us and ended up giving us all free dessert!
Yes, we are still wearing the clothes we wore on the plane yesterday. I told you we went straight to Stonehenge and then to dinner!
 I got the best ribs!
Everyone but me and Jenny got the famous Fish and Chips! Afterall, we are in England!
Jenny got this huge bacon cheeseburger (we quickly found out they don't really cook their bacon very well done!)

And this is what was left over from my ribs!
Our free dessert cuz our waitress liked us so much! It was really good pound cake!

Then we went home and zonked out! We had a very early morning. We would eat at 6:45 and be on the bus at 7:30!
