DAY 6: GADFIELD ELM CHAPEL, LIVERPOOL AND LEEDS, ENGLAND

August 29, 2017

We started out the day at an LDS CHURCH HISTORY SITE. It's called GADFIELD ELM CHAPEL. It's where in 1840, Wilford Woodruff went on a mission and converted 600 people from a Methodist Church. The chapel held 100 people, usually people met in their homes. The pastor gave the building to them to meet in after they were all baptized. They sold it a few years later to have money for passage to the U.S. That's where the church got mots of their Saints from England.

Our tour guide gave a little devotional there and had a lady in our group come up and sing acapella, Israel, Israel God Is Calling. It was nice way to start out the day.

Then everyone tried to go to the bathroom there. One bathroom and 85 people! I held it! We only stopped here for a short time because we had one more stop and then a long drive to LIVERPOOL.

We were so happy to finally be able to wear our raincoats! It only rained for a few minutes!

Here is what I wrote for Roll Call:
To see the Church was oh so sweet
To hear Glenn speak was the real treat.
Group 5 felt the spirit listening to the song
And now we're ready to move along.

Next we stopped for a few short minutes at HILL FARM where  Wilford Woodruff baptized all of those early Saints.

Can you see where they had dug this out and filled it with water for BAPTISMS?
To get to this spot we had to walk through this farm and there was SO much SHEEP POOP! So my ROLL CALL poem included that and also a personal joke with one of the guys on our bus. He had bought a bunch of this nummy looking fudge last night. After one bite he had to throw it away. So here is my Roll Call:
We saw the farm and dodged sheep poop
It looked and smelled as bad as Brent's fudge goop
Back to the bus Group 5 did flee,
We're on our way to LIVERPOOL, happy are we!

Some pics of us on the bus:

On our long drive we had to make two stops. One for toilets, one for a quick bite to eat (like he gave us 15 minutes!)

Here are my Roll Calls:
Thank you for stopping to let us go pee
Group 5 was happy we got to go for free!

(We went in to pee and then when we got out we held the door open for the next person so we didn't have to pay!!)

Then the other Roll Call:
We were famished and you stopped for us
Now Group 5 is back on the bus!

We drove to LIVERPOOL but were behind schedule so we literally only had 30 minutes there and that included time to find a toilet and wait in a huge line! We had to be in Leeds at a certain time because the hotel was making us dinner tonight and we were already behind. We were really bummed because we wanted to see this BEATLES thing there. Oh well! What do you do?

The area of LIVERPOOL that we saw was at ALBERT DOCKS. That's where the Saints took off and sailed to the United States. Debbie was really excited to see it because our ancestors left from that dock. Me and Mom just ran around trying to find TOILETS!!

Here was my Roll Call for this leg of the trip:
We missed the Beatles thing and it made us sad
But we found the toilets and boy, were we glad!

Then we drove to LEEDS, ENGLAND:
It was later than they had expected so we went right into their dining room for dinner. It was really good!

I took a few bites of this most delicious chocolate dessert. I wanted the whole thing but dang it! I'm diabetic! :(
Diane and Jenny got this lemon treat and they said it was super good!
