HOBO DINNER ON THE HEBER CREEPER

Sept 9, 2016

Diane invited Me, Deb, Joyce and Jenny to a HOBO DINNER ON THE HEBER CREEPER on my Mom's birthday. She wanted it to be a SURPRISE to my mom. We let her think we were going to go to dinner and then really CELEBRATE her birthday on Sunday with the family.

So I left work early and grabbed some clothing for me and Mikell rounded up some for my mom. I headed to SLC to meet everyone around the corner of my Mom's house. We were all dressed in HOBO gear and I had made a CARDBOARD SIGN that read: WILL WORK FOR FOOD, CIGS OR BOOZE!  I stood out in the street as everyone pulled in. Joyce died laughing. She thought it was so funny!

We then went to Mom's front door and knocked. To say she was shocked and confused was an understatement. She was dressed nice for a Birthday Dinner. We immediately handed her the clothes she would be wearing. It was so funny! Zach had an Obama beanie that totally cracked me up. Diane brought brown make up to make us look like we had dirt on our faces.

I was worried with all of us in the same car driving to Heber that we might get in a wreck and all of us looking like we did! How embarrassing would that be if we had to go to the hospital looking like this!

We had a super fun time though. A lot more fun than we thought we would. We started out with a cup of stew for dinner, cornbread and cinnamon rolls for dessert. We saw a shoot-out at the train. We then boarded the TRAIN and rode 5-7 miles where we stopped and got out by a bon fire and we sat there and listened to two people play guitars and violins and sing songs we all loved. They asked us all to sing along and we did. It was so enjoyable! We were there for about an hour and then boarded the TRAIN again to go back to the STATION.

It was fun. We got a lot of attention for our costumes. Several people dressed up a little, definitely not as "well" as we did. The people from the HEBER CREEPER kept taking our pictures!  Everyone sang Happy Birthday to Mom and it's a BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION she will not soon forget!
