DAY 10: CARTHAGE JAIL AND COMING HOME!

September 15, 2018

Today is the last day of our amazing CHURCH HISTORY TOUR. We followed the Prophet Joseph Smith from his home where he was raised, saw Angel Moroni, received the Gold Plates, translated them in every house he went, we went. The place he was baptized, organized Christ's church, where he received the Priesthood, where he built a temple, and put in jail. Where he built a city and everywhere in between. We followed his trail. So it was fitting to end our tour where he died a Martyr. He and his brother, Hyrum, were killed in CARTHAGE JAIL. We took a tour inside that jail and we saw the bullet hole that went through the door and into the prophet, sending him crashing through a window and down 2 stories to fall near the well. We saw it and felt it. Although it was sad and I cried, I am so thankful for his sacrifice. He gave his life so that we can enjoy membership in Jesus Christ's Church. I'm so thankful for his life. I have left this tour with a stronger TESTIMONY. I have felt the Holy Ghost witness to my heart that this is all true. I am so grateful to have that knowledge.

Here are our pictures of CARTHAGE JAIL:

A family lived below the jail.

This is some original wood and nails used in the flooring of the jail.

Here are the holes that the bullet left when they went through the door and shot Joseph and Hyrum.

The prophet fell through this window
And landed below by the well.

He fell out this 2nd story window.

 Joseph and Hyrum Smith. Brothers.

We have been gone for 15 days on an amazing trip. Looking back I have to say my favorites were The Sacred Grove, Niagra Falls, Nauvoo Temple and Philadelphia. I love Philadelphia! I am ready to come home now and I cannot wait to see that beautiful Grandbaby of mine. I can't wait to hold Skylee tomorrow. We flew all day and didn't get home till late tonight so I spent the night at my Mom's. Here is what our last travel day looked like:

This was a cool looking airport I thought. We flew out of St. Louis, Missouri.

I had a great experience and I am blessed to have shared this trip with my favorite travel people. My family. I love that Mom got to experience this. She has wanted to go here her whole life. Now we are home and we are tired! Ha! Ha! Til the next big trip!
