Lovin' the Fresh Air of Mt. Charleston

We had such a great time driving out to Mt. Charleston. Bill goes up there to run on Saturdays and then the family meets him up there to eat breakfast at the lodge. It is SO beautiful up there and it smells so fresh and clean! This is the second time I've been up there with them and Zach helped Bill finish up his work out by holding the body bag so Bill could punch it. It was so funny. Bill almost knocked him down a few times!

Annual Trip to St George to go to Tuacahn

We love having a girls trip to Tuacahn every year. We are so full of traditions. We always stop at the Red Barn for ice cream and fudge and I usually rent a large vehicle to fit us all. We have a great time together on the ride down. We always stay at Coral Hills Hotel, Tyler's parents own it. We love it cuz they have nice furniture (They own the Boulevard Furniture Store), a fun pool (inside and outside) and a good breakfast with waffles! We have a blast because we usually meet Joyce and Jenny there but this year they couldn't go cuz Joyce was changing from paperless to wireless at work and couldn't miss. This year we saw Tarzan and Cats. We are so excited that Disney loved the performance of Tarzan so next year we will get to see Little Mermaid and Grease! Yeah!!

We were SO excited to see Disney's Tarzan this year. And WOW! It was SO good! We all LOVED it! Tarzan was HOT! At the beginning of the show the announcer announced Grandma's 96th birthday. She stood up and waved to everyone as they applauded her! She is such a CUTIE! We wished so bad that Joyce and Jenny were here with us. We had fun but not a blast like we usually do. They were truly missed!

We went swimming this year but most didn't get in the pool...party poopers...you know who you are! We didn't even do Olympics this year, a total bummer for me. We didn't even blow up the rafts I brought for everyone. Time at the pool this year was kind of boring!

Another Tuacahn Tradition: Texas Roadhouse to Celebrate Grandma's B-day

We like to go to Texas Roadhouse Grill to celebrate Grandma and Ashley's birthday. Grandma turned 96 this year and she was excited to jump up into the saddle and be sung to. Ashley followed her and was a doll. She turned 20 years old.

My favorite appetizer is Fried Pickles with Ranch dressing. I would be happy if that is all I ate. I LOVE them!

We Saw the Play "CATS" at Tuacahn

I always have wanted to see Cats. The play was ok, not my favorite. I won't ever see that again but it wasn't as bad as my neighbor, Garth, said it was! I marked it off my Bucket List. That was just one I had to see!

I wanted so badly to go on stage during intermission and perform a little bit for the audience!

Flying to New York

What a frustrating day at the Salt Lake City Airport! Oh my gosh! They had us move from gate to gate and then told us we would be delayed and then we finally got on a plane and sat there for about 2 hours and then got us off the plane and sent us to another gate and we sat there for a few hours and then we got on and they came on and said we had too much fuel and our plane was too heavy. So they had to drain some of the fuel. People were getting mad! Then they asked if people would get off and take another flight. They said that several times and finally there was about 10 people who got off to make the plane lighter so we were supposed to leave at 10:00 am and we left at 6:30 pm! I was impressed with how good Jackson was. Rylee wouldn't let us do anything for her. Occasionally she'd let my mom hold her but mainly she just wanted Erin! We were flying back to New Jersey with Erin so she didn't have to fly alone with the kids from her trip to St George. We talked her into going to Tuacahn this year! So we had an exhausting day but the kids did great for how long this day was. Then when we were flying over New York the turbulence was awful! A few times me and Erin thought we were going to die. Seriously we dropped like forever! Scary!! But I am so excited to start our trip to New York!!

New York Bus Tour

Erin gave us the best tip when visiting New York City. She got us on the best bus tour! Not the one that you ride on top of the bus. The one we took was incredible! We got to stop at each site and our tour guide got off with us and explained everything. It took 5 1/2 hours but so worth it. We learned so much and got acquainted with the layout of the city. We took lots of pics but I won't post them all, afterall, I took hundreds! But we saw all there was to see and it was awesome! I do have to say that I was SO excited as we got off the train and entered the City. A very nice man said he worked at Macy's so follow him and he will walk us to where we needed to go. I just kept looking up at all of the incredible buildings and got so giddy thinking, "I am really in New York City!!!" What a dream vacation for me!

We took a tour boat out to the Statue of Liberty. I got goosebumps when I thought about Great Grandma Cozza and how she might have felt as she approached the Statue, and all she experienced at Ellis Island. It truly is an amazing sight.

Sweets at Serendipity

Everyone told me I just HAD to go to Serendipity for dessert. Well we waited 45 min in line and once we got seated we looked around and everything looked delicious! We were told we HAD to have an Iced Hot Chocolate! Not going to lie...not that impressed. Then we each tried a big dessert, and again disappointed. Our treats cost us $40.00 Oh well, been there done that! Note: We told Joyce and Jenny who came a few weeks after us about Serendipity and they loved it!!

Ellen's Stardust Diner, Wicked and Manhattan Temple

What a fun day we had. We took our time getting into town today. We ate lunch at Ellen's Stardust Diner...SO much FUN! The atmosphere was a riot! They have all the waiters and waitresses jump up on our tables and seats and sing songs. They all want to make it to Broadway. They had good food too. It was a little noisy but who cares? Fun! fun! fun! Then we went to the Gershwin Theatre to see WICKED! I have wanted to see that for so long. It was amazing! I loved it! Then we walked to the Manhattan Temple and did a session. It is very small but it was also amazing. I'm glad we took the time to go there. On the way home I stopped at a street vendor for a hot dog. I have always wanted to try a New York hot dog from a vendor. It only cost $1.00 but I have to admit I was disappointed. It was like the cheapest Bar S hot dog! I thought it would be really meaty! I should have gone to Nathans. Oh well! I can mark that off my Bucket List!

Little Italy, China Town, Battery Park and a Long Walk!

We had a fun day although at first it started out kind of disappointing. We went to take the tour to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. We stood in line forever! and then after we got our tickets there was another 3 hour line. We decided to forego it and go sightseeing instead since we went to the Statue of Liberty the day before by boat. It didn't seem like that far away when we were on the tour bus yesterday so we started walking to China Town from Battery Park. We walked, and walked, and walked! We laughed and laughed and laughed too! We saw all of the shops with tons of purses and sunglasses, then we walked to Little Italy and had a GREAT Italian meal. Nummy!! Then we couldn't find the right subway (Mom is so funny. She thinks that no matter what train stops in front of us must be ours. I had to watch her cuz one time when we were taking the train back to Jersey Mom almost got on the train going to Washington D.C. !!! Anyway, we walked some more and finally found a cab to take us to town so we went to FAO Schwartz and Rockefeller Center, etc... What a fun day we had! I love spending time with my mom and we laughed a lot today! It's amazing how well we already know New York. I love it!

NBC Studios Tour

On our way home from our crazy day in China Town, Little Italy, and Battery Park we decided to stop and see the NBC tours. We got to see where they record Dr. Oz, Jimmy Fallon, Saturday Night Live, and Conan's old stage. It was very interesting and I was amazed at how small the audience is. They use trick photography to make it seem huge. I was disappointed that I couldn't take pics in there or that I didn't get to see the Today Show set. I am a HUGE Today Show fan. I wake up to Matt Lauer and Meredith Viera every morning. I was shocked at how small the little block is in front of the building where they have their concerts on the plaza is. Teeny! Another thing that is teeny is the ice skating rink I see at Christmas time at Rockefeller Center. In the summer they cover the ice and make it full of little dining shops so people can eat outside. Still, so much fun to see everything!

Empire State Building

Erin was so amazing! She got us a special pass from her friend that works at the Empire State Bldg to take a fast pass (no waiting in lines, using special elevators) and we were able to go to the top of the spire (88 floors high!) Most people only get to the 66th floor. It was incredible! The view was breathtaking and it was so great to be there with Erin, Tyler, Jack and Rylee. They are so much fun!

Yankees Game

Can I just say, "WOW!" Erin AGAIN got us AMAZING tickets to the Yankees Game from her friend that works at the Empire State Bldg. They were awesome seats right above home plate. I kept telling Mom that I couldn't believe I was actually at the Yankee Stadium! I was excited to see Jeter and to sing Take Me Out to the Ballgame at the 7th inning stretch! I can now mark this off my Bucket List!
After the game we had to run to the Subway and we made it with exactly 2 seconds to spare! Whew! What a day and night! It was totally CRAZY FUN! Thanks so much Erin. You're the Best!

The Jersey Shore

We drove about 2 hours to the Jersey Shore to have a fun day at the beach. The temperature was perfect and we had a GREAT time! It was so much fun to see Rylee in her sunhat and goggles playing in the sand, and Jackson having the time of his life with Tyler carrying him into the waves. It was just so much fun being with Erin and spending time with her. Also...I am so glad my mom likes to have fun and is willing to go and do whatever it is that we have planned. I loved spending time with her on this trip!

Funny Things that Happened to Us that Everyone Attributed to My Bad Luck!

Ok, so everyone knows what horrible bad luck I have and just a few of the funny things that happened that we attributed to my luck!

Ok we had a horrible problem with our flight leaving SLC it actually left 8 hours late! Then the first train we got on in New Jersey...the power went out on it and freaked us out for a minute,and our tour bus broke down, and I know there were a few more things but at the moment it left me. I will post later it I remember...just know if you travel with me you will experience something crazy!

However, I have to say...the weather was absolutely perfect while we were in New York. It was only like 75 degrees and not humid at all. It never rained until the last day we were there before we flew home. Maybe my luck is changing!

I loved what Stef wrote on my facebook. She reminded me that when I went to Disneyland they had an earthquake and had to shut the park, then the next day I had an ovarian cyst burst, the time before that I had a kidney stone at Disneyland, and those are just a few things!

Family Traditions- 4th of July

I love Family Traditions and one of my favorite is the way we celebrate the 4th of July. A few days before the 4th I lay out blankets on Main Street so we can watch the parade. It was hard for me this year because I had just had a hysterectomy a few days before and yes, I overdid it but it was worth it. We watched the parade, and then came to our house to have a bbq, play water games, have a water fight, and a watermelon seed spitting contest, then watched fireworks on my front lawn. I love that Stef, John, Cord, and Dane come every year. We have so much fun with them!

We met at Dad's on the 4th to take a few pics since my friend Cyndi needed to practice using her new lens on her camera so we agreed. We have not taken a family pic since Zach was 9 months old. The only problem is that we can't really count this as our family pic because Jan and Scott and their kids were gone camping, and Stef, Erin, and their families couldn't be there, and Andy is on his mission still. One day I hope to have us all in one picture!

Our Cruise to the Eastern Carribbean

I had such a great time going on my first cruise. Me, Mom, Grandma, Deb, Diane, Joyce, Jenny, Laura, Holly, Judy, Maureen, and Aunt Annie all met up and cruised the Eastern Carribbean together. We had such a fun time. We went to the Bahamas, where we were supposed to swim with the sea rays but the water was too choppy so they had to cancel us. It was ok we laid on the beach and played in the most crystal clear water I have EVER swam in. It was cold but amazingly beautiful. Unfortunately on this first day Grandma suffered 2nd degree burns on her legs :(
Then we went to Puerto Rico. Early in the morning we went shopping and then went to ride the Zip Line. I hadn't eaten, it was hot and humid and we had to climb a pretty steep mountain to get to the top. I was feeling so sick I couldn't even breathe and felt like I was going to pass out. Once we got to the top a nice man gave me his water and Holly gave me a granola bar. My blood sugar was so low and I was dehydrated. But I rode the zip line. It was kind of a disappointment. We had hoped it was one we could just sit in and enjoy like the one in Park City but it was a little bit of work. It was ok but not the best!
The next day we went to St. Thomas and it was GORGEOUS! Oh my it was beautiful. We then took a boat ride to St. John. to go snorkeling. It was the warmest water I have ever swam in. It was perfect! Poor Judy got sick and threw up. I felt bad for her. The rest of us had a great time though.
We went the next day to Grand Turk. We decided to go to Governor's Beach which was pretty much our own private beach! We had a ball. I got caught in the tide and rolled up the beach and dragged back down to the water over and over. We were laughing so hard! I couldn't stand up cuz it was so powerful. I felt like a carpet being rolled up and rolled down, over and over! While we were at the beach Deb, Diane and Maureen went scuba diving and really enjoyed that.
We also had a lot of fun on the ship. The food was divine! I even tasted lobster! Not a seafood fan so I won't order it again but at least I tried it! We had great waiters that we got to know quite well. The were alot of fun!
I was sad when it came to end way too quick...but we ended on a funny note. As we were putting our luggage out in the hall Joyce ran out in the hall with a t-shirt and her long garment bottoms. Well, Grandma was in bed, Jenny was in the bathroom and Joyce got locked out! We went out and saw her and we laughed so hard! I almost peed my pants so I ran into our room to the bathroom. Unfortunately mom didn't make it and she peed her pants! All of our luggage was out in the hall so she had to wash her garments and hang them on our balcony to dry! So funny! Oh yeah, we really enjoyed having a balcony room. Every night and early every morning we enjoyed sitting out there. What a fun, fun trip...another thing to mark off my bucket list :)
