Ok, so did you know that the two top BIKE RACES in the WORLD are:
1. The TOUR D'FRANCE and
2. TOUR OF UTAH. I am not kidding! It's a huge RACE and it usually is in Southern Utah at places like the Canyonlands down there. Well, this year it started in Logan, Bear Lake, Antelope Island, Trapper's Loop, down in front of my work in Farmington, Park City, Snowbird, SLC, etc...
It is a 7 day RACE and they BIKE about 110 miles a day. It has been so exciting following it all.
Well, on the 3rd day, they were going to RIDE right past our office. So the Commissioners planned a little block party with ice cream, cow bells, and they let us close our office for about 20 minutes to watch them RIDE past us. It was SO EXCITING!! If you blinked, you missed it. I don't need to go to the TOUR D' FRANCE now, this was the same thing with many of the same riders! These riders come from all over the world!
Right before they came to Farmington, they had ridden Trapper's Loop and there was a bad crash there! A biker reached back to get his water bottle and crashed and it caused a 20 BIKE PILE UP. He had a broken collar bone and had to pull himself out of the race. So anyway, it was pretty exciting to see them and I was so happy to have a front row seat and I got lots of video and pics too!
My heart started pumping when they started coming around the corner! This is exciting!!
This is the lead and one of these guys won this part of the leg. They were going 55 MPH!
At the end of the race in Bountiful this guy was in first place until the last seconds and then the whole pack gave it all they got and he ended up taking like 5th or 6th place in the last second!
This is the 2nd pack of bikers. They were 1 1/2 minutes behind the first group. There were a ton of them and they ride so close together it's scary!
Then all of these cars carrying bikes came buy. They were seriously going so fast to keep up. Seriously they were speeding around those corners going 55 mph!
This has been in our lobby at work for several weeks getting us all pumped up for it!
We even gave them a kiss for luck!
