TOUGH MUDDER!

Octber 13, 2012

Zach was psyched to do TOUGH MUDDER and was so excited when Brody and Andy said they would join him. Unfortunately, Zach came down with a HORRIBLE head cold and sore throat and he just felt awful! He was unable to attend the TOUGH MUDDER COMPETITION. He was SO depressed about it. But me, Jess, Deb, Diane and Morgan drove out to Tooele to the Miller Motor Sports Park to CHEER ON Andy and Brody. It was SO COLD and WINDY! But that didn't stop them. This is a TOUGH COMPETITION! Not only did they have to RUN 12 MILES, they had to do MILITARY OBSTACLES throughout and most of it included ICY MUDDY WATER! All of the participants were CHILLED TO THE BONE and looked like they were experiencing HYPOTHERMA. Unfortunately Andy experienced extreme LEG CRAMPS and couldn't even move a muscle after about 8 1/2 miles, with only like 4 more OBSTACLES to overcome. We were so PROUD of him for making it that far. If it had been warmer weather Andy would have finished for sure! Brody had to FINISH THE RACE on his own and he felt himself STRUGGLE without Andy RUNNING by his side. But we were so PROUD OF BRODY for FINISHING! BRODY IS ONE TOUGH MUDDER!  I can't wait for June when they all try it again, and Zach can join them! Way to go BOYS!

Here is a list of the OBSTACLES they would have to overcome!
Morgan, Diane, Debbie, Jessica and Suzanne
Brody running out of the STARTING GATE. Andy is right behind him in the beanie.
Jessie made these awesome shirts for them that said EAT MY MUD!
This was ARCTIC ENEMA. They literally dumped a loadful of icecubes in freezing cold water in here. They had to jump in it and swim then climb up over this wall. So right at the get go they were freezing cold and wet! Brody thought he might not get past this one cuz his muscles were in shock and didn't want to move
                                                                   Brody sopping wet!
                                                           Andy running totally drenched!
The ELECTRIC EEL...they are in muddy water and those yellow strings are full of ELECTRICITY!
Brody and Andy stop to pose for us after they completed the ELECTRIC EEL

Debbie and Jessie all bundled up. We were FREEZING!
Diane and Morgan try to stay warm too!
Here I am. The wind is what made it such a miserably cold day!

This was MUDDY MILE. I took a lot of pics of this cuz I was so close to them. They had like a dozen of these muddy hills to climb over and then into the water and on and on this went. It was so cold I don't know how they could keep going!

Andy almost made it to the Funky Monkey but his muscles kept cramping up and he just couldn't go on
Brody was trying so hard to hang on to the MONKEY BARS but his hands were so cold and stiff he just could hang on so he fell in this freezing cold water and had to swim to the edge!

This was EVEREST. I video taped Brody climing up this. He ran and jumped and these awesome guys at the top who already made it, would help pull the people up. This was crazy cuz this was near the end and everyone was beyond exhaustion at this point. But it was great to see all teams pull together to help each other.

Brody coming over the back of Everest. He just has one more OBSTACLE...THE DREADED ELECTROSHOCK THERAPY! These wires hang down and runners have to get through them although they hold up to 10,000 VOLTS OF ELECTRICITY! Brody said it felt like he was slamming into a brick wall. He thought he was going to pass out!

Climbing through the mud and finishing through the electric shock!

He did it! Now he just has to run through the FINISH LINE!
I LOVE THIS SHIRT JESSIE MADE! EAT MY MUD!

Brody has done it! He completed the TOUGH MUDDER COMPETITION! YAY!
They handed out these warm silver blankets to all of the participants! They were all FREEZING COLD!
                                                           His muddy gloves and headband
                                                           Trying to keep warm now
Andy was disappointed that he didn't finish, but we weren't disappointed in him at all! He is tough! He couldn't help that his muscles cramped up. We know if it had been better weather he would have definitely finished. He is a WINNER in our book! Here he is trying to warm up! Way to go guys!!
