We could not believe that we hadn't seen one BUFFALO since we have been here. They are usually everywhere causing traffic jams. They can always be found in HAYDEN VALLEY. We finally asked a ranger where they were. He said they were over in LAMAR VALLEY. So we did a few things in the morning and then headed over there to see them. There were thousands of them!!! Take a look first at what we did in the morning.
We drove to LAKE LODGE. One of my favorite things to do is sit on the ROCKING CHAIRS in front of the LODGE and look out at the LAKE. Then we went to the General Store and bought an ice cream. We stood out looking at the view and it was just beautiful!
We did some shopping in here and then just chilled kickin' back on these rockers.
Me and my sweet Mom!
Then we ate our ice cream looking over the lake. It was a little windy here but not cold!
This is zoomed in but it was way below us. People had stacked these rocks on top of each other. It was amazing how they all balanced.
Then we drove up to TOWER to see this waterfall. It was crowded up there. We shopped for a bit up there too.
Then it was off to LAMAR VALLEY to find the BUFFALO. And boy, did we ever!
Look at that cute face!
Look how that little bird dares to get right between those huge beasts!
This baby calf was thirsty! There were lots of little calves around
I love this pic of Waylon looking through his binoculars on top of Papa's shoulders! Priceless!
Look at these guys getting ready to RUMBLE!
Since we had already driven this far, we decided to keep driving East and go into to COOK CITY, MONTANA. The drive was beautiful and filled with buffalo on the way.
We were hungry when we got there so we went into a bar and ordered the best PIZZA ever!!
We had a tailgate party before heading home.
This was a cute little city with buildings like this lining both sides of the street.
This wooded bear was missing an eye, so Boston took a pic with him and one eye! LOL!
And dinner is served, tailgate style! Mighty fine place to have dinner!
Fun little building in the cute little city!
When we started heading back to Camp, the rain started coming down and it poured!
This was right by Mom's window!
This one stood in front of our car for the longest time! Then came right up to my mom's window. So funny! This was so exciting! Most of the buffalo crossing the street would stop right in front of Zach and Kell's car! Boston and Waylon loved it!
Look at this face! I video taped this big guy cuz he was so noisy! He was just a bellowing!
We drove through a lighting and thunder storm on the way home. I was thankful to be able to drive back to our lodge and sleep in a nice comfortable, dry bed!
This was our last day in YELLOWSTONE and we hated to have it end. Mom said this was the most relaxing and fun trip she has had. No pressure to be somewhere fast, everything is mellow and unrushed. It truly was a great trip and I was so happy that she got to experience YELLOWSTONE at its finest. The weather was perfect. It was chilly in the morning till about 9:00 and then it was short sleeves but not hot at all. 75 degrees most of the days. Just perfect!
A big thanks to the BECKSTEAD'S for letting us share their vacation! We had the best time!
